Lisa & Jarrel | An Elegant and Laid-Back Early Summer Wedding Surrounded by Family and Friends

When Lisa described her perfect wedding day, she used three simple words: memorable, elegant, and laid back. As I look back through their images, it’s hard to think of a better way to describe the day they created.

From the soft yellow roses tucked into her bouquet to the quiet moments shared before the ceremony, every detail felt intentional without ever feeling overdone. Their wedding wasn’t about elaborate productions or packed timelines. It was about two people promising forever while surrounded by the people who mattered most.

Lisa and Jarrel were married at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Flowood, Mississippi, where faith served as the foundation of their wedding day. The church’s beautiful sanctuary provided a meaningful setting as family and friends gathered to witness their vows and celebrate the beginning of their marriage.

One of my favorite parts of the day happened before the ceremony. As Lisa got ready, there was a calmness in the room that felt different from the typical wedding-day excitement. Her daughters helped fasten the finishing touches, adjusted her veil, and shared quiet moments that spoke volumes about the close-knit family surrounding her. Those images are some of my favorites because they tell a story that goes beyond a wedding day—they tell the story of a family growing.

The wedding color palette of yellow, white, and green was the perfect reflection of the season. Soft yellow roses paired beautifully with white blooms and fresh greenery, creating a look that felt bright, classic, and effortlessly elegant. The florals added just enough color while maintaining the timeless feel Lisa envisioned.

Before the ceremony, Lisa and Jarrel shared a private first look outside beneath the covered porch of their venue. Hidden behind white columns and framed by early summer greenery, they took a few moments to simply be together. The nerves melted away, smiles appeared, and for a brief moment, the wedding day paused around them. Those quiet moments often become some of the most meaningful memories, and you could see just how much they treasured being together.

Their ceremony was heartfelt and reverent, centered on their faith and commitment to one another. Standing before family and friends, they exchanged vows and began the next chapter of their lives together. The joy on their faces afterward said everything.

As guests exited the church, bubbles filled the air while loved ones cheered them on. It was one of those joyful moments that perfectly captured the spirit of the day—celebration without pretense, happiness without distraction.

The evening continued with dinner, laughter, and dancing at The Ivy, where guests gathered to celebrate the newlyweds. The atmosphere was warm and relaxed, exactly as Lisa had envisioned. Surrounded by their closest family and friends, there was no pressure to create a perfect wedding day because they were too busy enjoying it.

One of my favorite images from the reception is their first dance. As they looked at one another across the dance floor, everything else seemed to fade into the background. It wasn’t about the venue, the flowers, or the timeline anymore. It was simply about Lisa and Jarrel, finally husband and wife.

Their wedding serves as a beautiful reminder that the most memorable celebrations are often the ones centered on what matters most: faith, family, friendship, and the person standing beside you.

Lisa and Jarrel, thank you for allowing me to document such a meaningful day. It was elegant. It was laid back. It was memorable. Most importantly, it was completely and uniquely yours.
